Tim and Barbara

Wow... this post is really, really late!  So, I won't keep you waiting... here's the best picture Julie took ;)  Does that look like a happy family or what?

It was an honor to be a groomsman in Tim's wedding.  What a great opportunity to watch the ceremony up close and personal and to stand next to one of my best friends in the world as he started a new phase in his life.  And it looks like Tim and Barbara were happy to get it started.

One of my favorite moments - amongst all the wonderful moments - was walking Grandma G in and out of the ceremony to her seat of honor.  Here we are at the reception having a moment.  During the rehearsal I was cracking up as I threatened to twirl her as we walked down the aisle and out of the sanctuary following the service.  She was game during the rehearsal - and fast on her feet. But I was a perfect gentleman during the ceremony ;)

Congratulations to Tim and Barbara.  I hope she knows that when she marries Tim she gets us in the package deal.  Now how much would you pay??

Happy Halloween!

Hannah and Maggie decided to come home for the day.  They were excited to eat some home cooked food, carve some pumpkins and give out candy to the trick-or-treaters!  Julie got them up and carving in the back yard.

Hannah enjoyed the slimy innards!

Here they all are working diligently.  Gina looks relatively uninterested behind them ;)  Julie looks serious!

 Here's the finished products!

Tim even got into the spirit!  Scarrrryyyyy!

Sunday Night In the Park

I helped Tim move his living room into the back yard this afternoon.  Yes, it's happening;  the kitchen remodel has officially creeped into the living room.

After moving the living room contents we decided to go for a little walk.  We ended up walking over to Central Park and were serenaded as we entered the park with Christian music.  We wondered what was up - so we followed the music to the source.  What we found was Santa Clara First Baptist Church celebrating Worship in the Park.  How cool is that?

Here's their worship team leading the singing.

While we were listening and singing I shot these photos of the cutest little girl playing with a big, yellow ball.

How cute.  And what a wonderful way to share your faith with your neighbors.   We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Let There Be Light

The Logan kitchen transformation is picking up steam.  Tim came over to the house tonight and insisted we 'go for a walk';  a euphemism for let me show you what got done today.  As it turns out, a lot of electrical work got gone.  And, the canister lights went in.  These are pretty slick little canisters; each one an LCD light that will last for 50,000 hours of use.

Here he is showing me his latest accomplishment.

And here Tim is surveying his domain.  Impressive.

PS.. hey.. can you believe it?  My camera works inside!!  Hahaha!

Happy Birthday Barbara!

It's been a wild month and it just keeps getting better.  Last Wednesday night our best friend Tim Logan proposed!  His fiance's name is Barbara.  We are very happy and excited for the two of them.  Barbara's birthday is also in May - May 5th...  which was Wednesday. Tim decided having a romantic dinner and proposing to her was more important that going to dinner with us.. so we had to wait till today to celebrate!  So, we headed out for lunch this afternoon to celebrate her birthday (and engagement.. !).  They seem like they had a great time!

We had a **huge** meal.   Check out the carnage!

After lunch at the restaurant we returned to Tim's for cake and presents and a card game.  Here's Barbara right before blowing out the candles.  She's laughing because we encouraged her to make a wish and Tim piped in that 'she already got her wish!'.   Apparently, Barbara thought that was pretty funny!

When she got done laughing at Tim she went for the candles!  Nice job!

Here's a picture of the couple outside Tim's house.  Don't they look great!  Congratulations to the lovely couple!  And, Happy Birthday Barbara.

Catching Up

Our great friend and neighbor Tim celebrated another birthday this last week!  We celebrated on Friday night (his actual Bday was Thursday) with a dinner out at The Fish Market followed by some deserts, presents and some game playing! Here's the crew at the restaurant (credit Auntie for all the photos within this post!)

Along with wonderful food - it was great to get the whole gang together again.  Karen is an accountant and is in the midst of tax season - so seeing her at all is a treat.  Jon and Rachel were also able to make it and we have missed having them closer. So, it was a treat to have them there.  And - drum roll... there's a new kid in town. Yes, Tim invited a date along for the dinner.  Her name is Barbara and she is very sweet!  We thought it was cute that they ordered the same meal!

After dinner we retreated to the Logan's for some ice cream cake and presents!  The cake was good - but the gifts were very mediocre.  I mean, check out this ugly blanket that he got (that's a joke grandma!).

Then we played a game of Apples to Apples which is a fun card game that is good for large numbers of people.

Thanks to Auntie for her excellent, as always, organizational skills along with being our official photographer for the event (explaining why you don't see her in any of the pictures!).

We love you Tim!  I hope we do another 40 or so of these!

It's My Birthday

Just to show you just how out of control the Team Henderson schedule can be some days - we planned a family dinner for my birthday last Sunday night. Yep, the same night that Hannah and Maggie were on their quest, a few hours after we picked our Christmas tree and 2 hours after I tried to kill myself ;)

I got to pick the restaurant! Yay! So, we went to Maggiano's which is a wonderful Italian restaurant located at Santana Row. I love their food (their Medallions of Beef are amazing!) and it's a very festive place to eat and enjoy a celebration. Thank you Auntie for documenting the event and sharing your pictures with us. You did great.

We selected a family style menu - which provided for a variety of delightful dishes in massive quantities. You definitely are unable to starve if you eat at Maggiano's.

Here's us as we just got started. I think that's a pretty good smile for someone that is having difficulty sitting upright ;)

Auntie and Karen raised a glass!

Here's Julie and Tim enjoying the appetizers.

The whole meal was sensational - but their cheese cake is to die for! We took on piece out and passed it around. However, we had them bag up our desserts because Rachel had already taken care of that!! Dessert was awaiting us as we returned home.

When we got there - here's what we found. Maggie and Hannah (and Indy) were in recovery mode from their walk. Don't they look comfy!

Here's my beloved "adopted daughter" :) Rachel. Hey, you make me a cake like Rachel did and you'll be beloved too ;) That is one spectacular cake that you can read about on her blog.

Here's the crew - except Auntie who was taking the photo - thanks Auntie!

And - we even had a guest appearance during the present opening of the card that Joel and Carissa sent me along with their gift! Apparently, they're reminding me of a little navigation 'issue' that occurred while we were up there visiting! We missed them not being there... but many thanks to everyone who came and made this a really wonderful celebration. I love you all!

Tail Gate - Game 2

We had such a great time last Saturday, tail gating and watching Stanford there was no question in our mind that we would do it again for the Stanford vs Washington game. Of course we invited Tim to the festivities and what a great decision that was.

Tim accepted the grill-master challenge. That was a daunting task following the great Eric and his Mongo burgers. However, Tim was a strong competitor. His specialty? Pork ribs. And let's just say he did not disappoint.

Here's a few pictures just to make you wish you could barbecue with Tim. It was that good. Rachel - eat your heart out! You've got competition in the Logan fam!

Julie and Karen joined us. With four of us it was only natural that we would strike up a Euchre game.

I love this picture with the 10 flying onto the board. A slick photo.

Now, along with the awesome ribs Julie made a gorgeous strawberry short cake. And, she found this delicious chocolate topping sauce. It was a perfect end to a great cookout.

After dinner it was time to enter the stadium and watch the game. The game got off to a an exciting, but disappointing start for Washington. Here's the Stanford player (#81) who received the kickoff - and who ran it back for a touchdown. Notice the sign that reads 'How Are We Doing? just in front of the player as he approaches the end zone. I'd say you're doing pretty good... if you were rooting for Stanford.

Stanford got a chance to celebrate early! And.. unfortunately often. They were able to overcome Washington. But, it was still a great game to watch and enjoy.

Washington had a huge number of fans at the game - along with their pep band and cheerleaders. They represented well - along with Tim and the rest of the alumni and fans sprinkled throughout the stadium.

The Stanford band is a bit unconventional to say the least. You've all heard of 'the tree' - Stanford's mascot. Here's the tree enjoying itself during halftime.

Now having come from Michigan, you're used to a more conventional marching band and drum major. Check this photo out. If you blow it up you'll notice the 'individual' dressed up in the Marilyn Monroe costume in the middle of the field. That's Stanford's - male - drum major. Different strokes for different folks!

And finally, the only real reason Tim loves to attend the Washington game is to have his picture taken with the cheerleaders. So, without further ado. Here you go Tim! Enjoy.
