Thursday Tweets

It is Thursday... isn't it?? Hard to remember when you are on vacation ;D

Do you know what a tweet is? If not.. check out this earlier post for more information! What is a Tweet?

Please feel free to tweet away.

Tod: Played 9 holes of golf the other day for $3. Ridiculous! It costs all of $20 to play 18 with a cart!!

Tod: Golf in the morning is essential when it gets to be 95 degrees with 90% humidity!

Tod: Can't wait to hear what is happening in your life!

Indy

We're happy to introduce the newest Team Henderson member, Indy Anna Henderson. Indy was Hannah's birthday present this year.

Indy is a Tea Cup Chihuahua weighing in at just under 2 lbs. She's tiny!

Here's the proud owner with Indy.

The sweater reads: I'm kind of a big deal around here!

Indy loves the outdoors! She's quite the adventurer!

She's not too sure about the bear, though.

You can't live in Michigan without being willing to work the land.

Lake Fun

Julie and Hannah came up with a very unique Father's Day gift for me yesterday. They arranged for a Jet Ski to be delivered to the lake for us to use for the week while we are here. What a great gift idea. Julie definitely IS the giver ;D

It's been hot (high 80's) and the chance to cruise around the lake at 40 or 50 miles an hour has been invigorating. Here's some pictures of the fun!

Grandpa Bill and Trent:

And check this out. Trent driving all by himself!

Stitches!

My nephew Trent is a ball of energy. And that little ball was so excited to hang out with us Saturday night when we arrived. At one point he was down in the spectacular new basement jumping around on the bed with Hannah when - WHAM!! OUCH!!

Trent opened a little gash next to his right eye (thank God there was no issue with the eye!).

So, at about 9:30 PM Steve, Trent and I were off to the emergency room for a couple stitches.

Trent was a rock. He did awesome. Check out those cool stitches he got!

Here's a closeup picture Hannah took for you sickos that love details!!

Michigan!!

Team Henderson successfully landed in Michigan Saturday afternoon. We don't have any exciting stories from the flights; they we very uneventful. Well, Hannah has been telling one story of the very cranky airline attendant that seemed to be as disappointed to be working at 6:00 am as we were to be traveling at that time.

We were greeted at the airport by a veritable contingent! We were expecting Bill and Linda. However, when we turned the corner and were heading into the terminal we saw a big sign welcoming the Henderson Party of 3. I couldn't see exactly who was holding the sign - and had a moment where I wondered how many Henderson parties of 3 could be on one flight. Then I finally figured out it was my crazy sister, Lurinda and her cohorts in crime!

Thanks to Vicki and Cassie (along with Lurinda) for making our arrival to Michigan special! We can't wait to get down your way to spend more time together.

Bill and Linda did pick us up and they had a special treat waiting for Julie in the car. Yes, that is a glorious 3 liter bottle of the nectar of the gods - Mtn Diew!

And.. it didn't take long to get opened once we got back to their place. Another special treat for Julie is the Epcot Center glass. Julie got it while on vacation one year and it has been around ever since. Ahhhhhh... we are in Michigan again!

A bit later in the afternoon the Buckners greeted us at the lake. My fabulous nephew Trent had a special greeting planned. Check Trent out in the Maize and Blue. What a stud. It was so fun to greet him as he came running down the hill and into my arms to show me his cool jersey.

Then - he got this sly look in his eye as he pulled up the jersey to reveal the MSU t-shirt he had on below it. I am told it was totally his idea. What a cute kid! (at least Julie liked it!)

There was one sad story to tell from our flight in. We were accompanied on our short trip from Chicago into Grand Rapids in the cabin by a Lieutenant who was accompanying a casket with one of our fallen soldiers. I was very proud to add my applause when he was announced. I hope we never forget the sacrifices that our young men make to keep us free.

Bengie's Dugout

Bengie Molina Henderson moved into spacious new digs Friday night. Bengie, named after quite possibly the slowest player the San Francisco Giants to ever play seems to be adjusting well to his little dugout.

Typer and Michelle Jumping!

Okay jumping picture fans! We have an inspiring submission from one of our past jumpers. This is Michelle and Tyler jumping over the Swiss Alps!

Michelle comments: "Tyler's got what looks to me like a Spiderman and an Iron Cross going on...I think these might have even been his first ever jump photos. I am a proud wife."

This definitely is a most auspicious start to your career Tyler!

Major props from Team Henderson!

Michelle is just slightly less agile than Tyler - stubbing her right foot on the peak as she hurdled the mountain.

Here's Tyler doing the Spiderman.

The Swiss judge gives this a 9.90!! (a tough people!). France gives you 3.4 (cheaters). USA gives this a 9.95!!

Tod: 5 days from Michigan! Getting excited!

Tod: Thankful for my job.

Tod: Need to quit eating so much delicious food. Or buy new jeans. But you know how cheap I am ;D

Feasting!

Team Henderson has been absolutely gluttonous lately. Let's face it - there is just too much culinary talent around here to avoid a great desert.

First, sisters Hannah and Rachel put together these amazing treats. They started by making an amazing cheesecake and then added some festive chocolate accents that added so much to the presentation. That's 'Tod' in script chocolate. They had a really good time working it.

Then, while the cheesecake was baking they went to town caramelizing bananas. They looked and tasted absolutely fabulous topping some vanilla ice cream.

Then, this morning Julie got a baking lesson from Nancy Schlink - a good friend from the Highway Community. She is a culinary school trained chef and spent time teaching Julie more about pastry making right in our home. It was a special treat for Julie.

First, they worked on biscuits. Here are some of the cheese biscuits they produced - which were absolutely amazing. I think I ate 5 of these within 10 minutes!

Julie was particularly interested in learning more about pie crust making. So, they made a beautiful apple pie. Here is it baking away in the oven.

Nancy is a great chef and a great teacher and Julie learned a lot. Tod, on the other hand, just ate a lot ;)

We really gotta stop eating!!!

Congratulations Kristen!

We had the distinct pleasure to attend Kristen Wong's graduation Thursday night at Homestead High School. We've known Kristen and her family since birth and she is definitely one of our favorites! She has an impressive mind and an incredibly playful personality. It is virtually impossible not to smile and enjoy yourself when Kristen is around.

Here's Kristen after walking in and taking her spot in the stands (bottom row waving).

Here's the proud sister and father awaiting the big moment!

It's official! She got her diploma (like it was every in doubt!).

We had a chance to congratulate Kristen after the ceremony. Here's Julie and Kristen.

Did I tell you that Kristen is very creative? Well, check out her cap - decorated in UC Santa Barbara colors!

Here's another shot of the graduate.. and one with her boyfriend Ryan styling and profiling! Congratulations Kristen. We can't wait to hear about your college exploits. We know you will excel in everything you do!

Tod's Laceration Scale

Here is a visual representation of my laceration scale (where 4 = rachel's recent laceration).

Here's a 4: nauseous.. but hanging in there

6: umm.. experiencing some disorientation

8: mommy? mommy??

10: why is the room spinning??

11: head exploded... passing into the light... Jesus? is that you?????

This has nothing to do with the laceration scale.. but speaking of scales... this is an impression of myself at 890 lbs - lying in bed waiting for someone to bring me some more fried chicken and Mtn. Dew.
