Three years ago today I received my very first Omron pedometer from Amazon.com; a classis HJ-112. At that time we became great friends and I am pleased to report that I have maintained a continuous relationship with Omron pedometers ever since. Eventually, that first model wore out - after thousands of miles and recording every step of my first marathon. I immediately replaced it with this Omron HJ-303 (a fantastic model!).
Over the three years Omron and I have logged 21,806,045 steps - traveling over 10,708 miles.
Omron pedometers are hands down the best on the planet!

John saw your omron model and had omron envy. He decided to leave his HJ-112 in his pocket to see if he could get a new one if the old one was ruined in the washer (would also get someone else to blame). He has not ordered the new one yet--he is still trying to dry out the trusty HJ-112.
true story. hannah 'borrowed' my iPod nano awhile back and accidently washed and dried it. inspection showed that it was quite dead after that ordeal. fast forward to last weekend. i found the old nano and before throwing it out.. just plugged it into a charger to make sure it was still dead. NO! It was good to go! Fired up. Still had all the songs and pictures in memory. Works like a charm! Too funny. Never give up!
john, some info on the HJ-303 vs the HJ-112 (also excellent!):
HJ303:
credits you for moderate steps faster (so you will have more)
smaller - fits into coin pocket on men's pants well
has a feature that accumulates total steps over many days.. till you hit a million and then you need to clear and start over
hard to change stride length (i switch regularly between stride lengths for walking vs. running). requires you poke a narrow object (paper clip) into a hole on back to re-setup. much easier on HJ-112 (which has a front button for that feature)
they both are highly accurate in counting steps!
This is kind of amazing--but it is not dead yet. He took the battery out last night and dried it out all day today and it is working right now. I am cautiously optimistic. This may be the best reason to have a front loading, low water use washer!
God answers prayer!
As you all may recall my pedometer drowned about a year ago. It tried to come back about a week after the incident, but to no avail. Uncle John, don't get your hopes up.
If anyone wants to donate to the HJ-303 fund, We are accepting donations. We have a slightly used HJ-1_2 (it is only missing one digit in the clock setting) that we would like to trade in for a newer dryer model.
