Our first day in Oregon (Saturday) included a relatively brief visit to Silver Falls State Park just outside Salem. Silver Falls is the largest state park in Oregon - and we saw just a small corner of it during this brief visit.
The park gives you a peek at the vast beauty that is Oregon. There are a variety of hiking trails that meander through a sequence of falls. These pictures are from just a couple of the falls as we got there relatively late in the evening. In fact, we literally walked out of the park and to the car in darkness.
Joel told us that his first visit to the park was earlier in Spring when the water in the falls was much more spectacular. Even so, the falls were picturesque and it was fun to hike around, talk, and share this memory with Joel.

What?....that's all you got?
I'm hoping tomorrow brings more...are you teasing us?
It is a beautiful place...I can't say I've actually been to Oregon...nope I'm thinking not!
patience...
hey joel - just a quick observation/question for you. is it traditional for the claddagh ring to worn on the right hand but with the design facing inward toward the body to indicate the person wearing the ring is in a relationship, or that "someone has captured their heart"? hmmm??? just curious ;>
When observing a Claddagh ring, there are two details to help you decipher its meaning:
The first is which hand it is on. The right hand is for singles and dating couples. The left hand is for engagement and marriage.
The second detail is which way the design is facing. If it is facing out (the tip of the heart pointing towards the fingernail), then the ring is in first position (signifying either single or engaged depending on the hand). If the tip of the heart is pointing in towards the hand, then it is in second position (indicating either dating or married). Thus, when you see me wear my ring, you should be able to deduce that I am in a dating relationship, since I wear the ring on my right hand pointing in. Someone has indeed captured my heart!
ahhh... i see my misunderstanding. i was thinking the crown pointed inward.. but it is actually referenced to the tip of the heart! makes perfect sense. my bad! you got it right.
Did you delete my comment, or is Blogger doing the weird delayed comment thing again?
i deleted both of our comments so as not to confuse our readers... or appear too stupid.
