I kid you not.. here is a memo that just arrived to all ITT employees this morning:
To help promote wellness here at RSS we will be giving all employees pedometers. Along with this we will be instituting a friendly competition. Beginning the week of Oct. 19th we will have a white board posted in the cafeteria where employees can post the distance they walked in the previous week (Monday through Sunday). The intent is to encourage aerobic activity by employees thereby improving overall wellness. Obviously we will be conducting this friendly competition under the honor system. That is to say it would not be considered fair play to clip the pedometer on your 5 year old child or grandchild as they run around the backyard. This competition is entirely voluntary but even if employees choose not to take part in posting their numbers please use this opportunity to challenge ourselves to get in some regular exercise and thereby improve the wellness of our population. Our health and welfare are precious and every little step helps.
Does this mean another trip to SF? :)

Welcome to the Wellness Bandwagon.
They got wind of your week-end jaunt!
yeah, like a major company could move that fast! hahahahaha
joel - you would laugh. the pedometers they purchased for everyone would, generously, be classified as a joke.
omron rocks. you did good by your colleagues!
Maybe I should have done my HR project with ITT... Opportunity MISSED!
Did they get their pedometers out of those quarter machines you get candy and bouncy balls out of?
pretty much!
Did they hand out sanitizing kits too, like our company did? We got hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes with a card that read "In an effort to stay healthy during this upcoming cold and flu season, we are happy to supply this sanitizing kit - replenishment will be employees responsibility". So the Co. only wants us healthy for as long as these supplies last????
Everyone should be buying stock in Purell right now, cause they are making bank. A bottle of hand sanitizer right now is probably worth its weight in gold.
